Top 5 Things to Do This Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is just around the corner. If you don’t have plans this weekend, it’s not too late to find something fun to do to enjoy the holiday. Celebrate with friends and family, alone, or even with complete strangers. There are plenty of opportunities to make this a fun holiday.

Go to the Park

There will be lots of people out celebrating at public parks. Don’t be surprised if complete strangers encourage you to come over to share a beer or a meal. Getting out in the open air, something that many of us aren’t able to do because of our day jobs, is also healthy and good for you. Not interested in being social? Use your time at the park to people watch or enjoy the festivities. Some areas will have events including live music and fireworks to celebrate.

Get by the Water

Whether it’s the lake, beach, or the pool, Labor Day is one of your last chances to truly enjoy a nice summer day by the water. It won’t be long before the water is too cold to enjoy. Bring some friends with you and make it an all-day event with drinks, music, and good food. Just remember your sun block and bug spray!

Have a Cookout

If your friends or family aren't celebrating the holiday put yourself in charge of the festivities. Organize a cookout and get the grill going. Share the expenses and the fun by asking your friends and family to bring a side dish to accompany the delicious burgers and hot dogs. Providing entertainment can be easy with movies or board games.

Take Advantage of a Sale

Even if you’re just heading to the grocery store, there’s bound to be a good deal for the holiday weekend. Stock up on condiments, ground beef, disposable cups, and many other items while at the store. Many car dealerships, mattress stores, and appliance stores also have good deals this time of the year. It’s time to get that new king-size memory foam mattress or fridge you’ve been eyeing!

Just Relax

If days off are rare for you, then maybe you should take the day just to laze around your home. Catch up on your favorite TV shows, read a book, take a nice long bath, and enjoy a quiet dinner at home. Do something that is entertaining and relaxing for you, no matter how everyone else chooses to celebrate.
